DOMINANT FACTOR: Only has to be carried by one
parent to be
produced in offspring. |
NO BIRD CAN BE SPLIT FOR A DOMINANT FACTOR |
RECESSIVE FACTOR: Has to be carried by both parents,
either visually or in split form to be produced in
offspring. By split form,
we mean it is not visible but has been handed down from an ancestor and
remains
hidden within the genetical
make-up of the bird until it is mated with a bird containing similar recessive genes. |
SEX-LINKED FACTOR: Passes
from mother to son in split form, |
i.e.
hidden and not visual. Passes from father to daughter in visual form, and to
son in split form. |
There are two ways to breed sex-link cocks: |
(1)
Sex-linked father to sex-linked mother gives sex-linked
sons and daughters.
(2)
Split
sex-link father to sex-linked mother gives Normal
/ sex-linked sons,
Normal daughters, sex-link sons and sex-linked
daughters.
ALWAYS
REMEMBER THE GOLDEN RULE:
NO HEN CAN BE SPLIT SEX-LINKED
